Columbus Day Parade

I have received some information regarding this event. Still more to come. Here's what I got so far: (tentative)

9:45 report to EPHS and change
10:15 depart for downtown
11:00 line up
12:30 parade
1:30 leave for EP
2:00 arrive at EPHS, change, and go home

This probably will change as we get nearer to October.

Band Fees

Band Fees were due July 4th. According to the schedule below, please admit the amount owed to Mr. Rhoades immediately if not already paid. (If you're not sure, send an e-mail to rhoadesk@epcusd401.org to find out)

ONLY THE STUDENTS WHO HAVE PAID FEES WILL BE PERMITTED TO PERFORM WITH THE BAND. This is a new school policy this year, similar to those in place for Athletics.

New Members: $145.00
This includes marching shoes, t-shirt, new band polo shirt (to be used all year), flip folder/lyre, uniform maintenance, music and drill, and summer instructors

Returning members: $90.00
This includes t-shirt, uniform maintenance, music and drill, and summer instructors.

Handbook Forms

Handbook forms are due by the end of the week to Mr. Rhoades. They require both parent and student signatures. They are worth a grade, (the only grade right now!) so please return them promptly.

Boosters Meeting

The Boosters Meeting tomorrow night will be in the Band Room at EPHS. If you plan on attending, please be there by 6:30. The meeting will end before 8:00.

Thursday Rehearsals

Please be aware that Thursday rehearsals start this week. We will meet from 6:00-8:00, and we'll be outside as much as possible.

Thursday rehearsals count as part of your grade. Unless you were absent from school that day or have a valid excuse (i.e. a note signed by a parent, NOT "I had to work") your grade will be affected. If you have questions about this, please e-mail me.

Uniforms/Policies

Students who have not yet been fitted for uniforms should meet with Mr. Rhoades tomorrow after rehearsal. Those who were asked to tailor their uniforms should have that done as soon as possible.

Uniforms should be worn as follows:
Fully buttoned/clasped/zippered when in public view (full uniform or no uniform)
Appropriate marching shoes (if you need shoes, you should have ordered them by now)
Full black socks (no ankle socks or other colors, please)

In addition, band members should refrain from eating and drinking (except water) while in uniform. Please consider whom you represent while in uniform: your Band, your School, and your Community.

Picture Day

Band pictures went smoothly. Students who wanted to order pictures were asked to fill out forms on-site. Those students will be able to order band photos online later.

Band Camp Photos

If any of you have pictures taken during Band Camp (or any other time during the year in the future) please e-mail them to Mr. Rhoades at rhoadesk@epcusd401.org. They'll get displayed from time to time here on the blog.

T-Shirt Contest

We need to order t-shirts by the end of the week. If you're willing to create a t-shirt design, please submit it to Mr. Rhoades on Thursday (hard copy) or e-mail it to rhoadesk@epcusd401.org by Friday morning. We're looking for something representative of our Stevie Wonder show, and it needs to be printable in black and white (no full color printing on t-shirts).
